We are very proud of Kani, our student of the month for December. She has shown remarkable progress during the first semester.
Zaid is our student of the month for January. Zaid’s in-class behavior is very good and he is learning to read very quickly!
Congratulations to students of the month for December and January. Today they were presented with a gift from Mr Serhat.
Well done Meem! She is always very well behaved and is really good at spelling.
Well done Ufuk! He was new at the beginning of KG2 but he has been using a lot more English since we came back after the holiday.
Butterflies are a classic symbol of spring so what better way for kindergarteners to start a new year than by making paper butterflies? These paper butterflies look amazing and they are really easy to make. Our kindergarteners had a bundle of fun making these delicate decorations. There are many ways to make butterflies but this method worked really well with our class of five and six year olds. Take a look and be inspired!
What You’ll Need
To make these butterflies, each student used:
1) 2 sheets of colored A4 paper
2) 1 long pipe cleaner
3) 2 googly eyes!
4) 1 oval of black paper
5) Many circles of colored paper
6) PVA glue
7) Lots of imagination!
Step #1. Fold The Paper
The butterfly wings are two sheets of A4 paper. Concertina the paper lengthways. Most of our kids required some assistance to do this. Well done to those who persevered – nice going Yusa!
Step #2. Tie The Wings
This step kept the teacher very busy! Tie the pipe cleaner around the center of one folded piece of paper. Put the second piece of paper on top, and twist the pipe cleaner to hold it in place. In other words, use the pipe cleaner to tie both sheets of folded paper on top of each other. They fan out to make beautiful wings.
Step #3. Go Crazy With Glue!
The black oval body, google eyes, nose, mouth and wing decorations are all held in place with glue. All of our kids did an awesome job and created butterflies to be proud of.

Hello KG2A parents! I’m very excited to write my first post for our new blog. I hope you agree that this is a great way of keeping in touch and letting you see some of the things that are going on in our classroom.
It’s been a busy week for all the kindergarten classes as we start our preparations for Sports Day next week. We hope you will be able to join us. We have started practicing our team ‘cheers’ and the students are perfecting their race strategies!
Because of these preparations, and the fact that I am the teacher responsible for organizing the whole event, there has been a slight delay in the setting of homework this semester. However I plan to start sending work home on Monday 27th January. For the time being, the homework will be as follows:
Mondays: Tricky word reading
Tuesdays: Scissor practice
Wednesdays: Maths
Thursdays: Mazes
Fridays: Handwriting practice
We have now finished our first Pockets chapter on People at School. The students are really excited about taking ownership of the work they do in their books.
Every chapter in this series includes a ‘value’ for us to discuss in class. This week we talked about the importance of clearing up. The students were able to offer reasons why we must tidy up after ourselves such as ‘you might fall over your toys’, ‘the toys might get broken’, ‘ants might come for crumbs’ and ‘Mummy and Daddy might get angry’! Here are the students racing to clean up the blocks by sorting them into different colours.
Next week we start our new chapter on ‘I am healthy’. We are looking forward to talking about healthy habits like hand washing, brushing teeth, exercising (which we will practice in class!) and eating healthily. We will even make some healthy snacks. It’s great that this chapter coincides with Sports Day!
Dear Parents,
This week, the students have homework on the number 12, and drawing a picture of their neighborhood. We have been talking lots about different people, places and things in the neighborhood so I am excited to see what the student’s come up with! Please feel free to also review and ask your son/daughter questions about the letters Aa and Bb, the shape of triangle, and the color orange. They learned all about those this week!
Next week, we will be finishing our chapter of Our Neighborhood, working with the letter Cc, the color orange, the number 12, and circles. All week, we will also be practicing for Pan-Asia Kindergarten Sports Day, which will be held from 8:30AM-11:00AM on Friday, January 31st. Each class has been divided up among the teachers and been assigned a specific color. I have written in your child’s color in your child’s communication book, and they are summarized in the image attached to this post. The Pan-Asia Sports Day uniform shirts are currently for sale at the Orange Shop! Please be sure that your child wears his or her’s on that day!
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
T. Katherine
Dear Parents,
We have made a minor change in the schedule for the remainder of the school year, so I have included a new schedule in your child’s communication book and attached above for your convenience. In summation: each Monday and Wednesday, we will be fortunate to have the children learn from the incredible Pan-Asia Thai Department. This does impact the time we will have PE – PE will now be on Wednesday afternoon (instead of Tuesday)! In addition, as I mentioned in my letter on Monday, we will be more heavily focused on center-based learning. These changes have forced small scheduling adjustments which I believe are for the better. As you will see, show and tell will remain on Friday mornings. It was quite popular with the kids last semester and I saw them markedly improve in their public speaking skills and confidence levels. Please let me know if you have any questions.
This week, the children have homework on the number 11 and tracing their names. We did lots of work on counting to eleven this week so I do not expect they will have any trouble with this. Please feel free to also review and ask your son/daughter questions about their neighborhoods, the letters Y and Z, the shape of triangle, and the color red. They learned all about those this week!
Below is an overview of our learning objectives for next week:
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
