Wow!!! This week has been hectic. We’ve been practicing for international day, prepping decoration, learning about our chosen country, and all the fascinating things that can be found exploring ancient Egypt! 🙂
So we started the week practicing some of our motor skill projects. Pouring water, threading buttons, separating colored beads with chopsticks. Anything to help is get used to using our hands in different ways. We have even started practicing with play dough scissors to prepare us for future cut an paste projects. Growing up so fast kG1B!
Learning about the letter H this week obviously meant having fun with hand print painting! H is for Hand!
Music class this week was led by teacher Jamie. We learnt a new song “Mary had a little lamb” and a how to beat the rhythm out on the percussion instruments! Very enjoyable!
Maths this week was a review of previous learnt vocabulary for shapes. Only instead of doing book work we searched the room for different shaped objects and the completed shape puzzles which required us to stimulate our brains and use or motor skills. We were very found of this maths lesson!
We try’d our hand at baking this week too! Well more like decorating cupcakes baked by teacher Jamie. But it was just as fun! We got messy and sticky using butter chocolate icing and sticking MnM’s on in different shapes. Of course the best part was eating! Our finished cakes! Yum yum!
And of course this week was our KG department field trip! To playtime. KG1B loved playtime! But their favorite station was the sand pit! Teacher Jamie, teacher G.V and P.sim watched in ore as KG1B played silently and and stayed so still! Wow! These little guys can’t sit for 5 minutes without bursting into songs and dances but the Sand put was a WINNER!!!!
We even have some mini race car drivers in our bunch! Driving their motorbikes on the race track! Lena was defiantly out shinning star in this activity!
There was a balloon room that left Daniel and Raafi so overwhelmed with joy they had to have a lye down 🙂 hehe
Not forgetting our painting projects! Playtime let us take them back to school. We are all very excited to show out mums and dads our hard work!
After such a hectic week there is not one thing left to say……
TAKE US BACK TO MONDAY!!!!! So we can do it all over again 🙂
What have we been learning?
We have continued to use our new Jolly Phonics books that have really helped us to stay motivated for learning. We have sung songs that help us to remember letter sounds by given them actions, writing the letters in the air then tracing them in our books. We are getting very good at this and I have been amazed at the amount of effort every child has put into their books!
We have been focusing on the letters Tt, Pp, Ii and Nn and reviewing Ss and Aa. We have even started to blend together these sounds to form words, like ‘it,’ ‘sat’ and ‘pan.’
You can find our songs by typing ‘Jolly Phonics’ into YouTube.
KG 2A love Friday reading mornings. It’s a great time to explore books, looking through pictures and looking for words that look familiar. Keep encouraging your children to do the same at home!
We have also been lucky enough to start on our new textbooks, ‘Pockets.’ We have learned about people who help in our school through lots of games, and have been practicing saying sentences such as, “She’s the principle” and “She works in the office.” The vocabulary we have been practicing are:
music teacher, gym teacher, principle, secretary, gatekeeper, cashier, janitor and bus driver.
In our music lessons we have continued to explore using instruments in different ways and are improving our rhythm.
During our PE lessons, we have practiced many skills, such as throwing, catching, kicking, running and jumping! These are all helping us to keep healthy and improve our coordination, all while having lots of fun!
Of course, we are all getting very excited about International Day and have been very busy getting everything ready. I have been very impressed with how hard all the children have worked to learn our song, actions and speaking parts – I’m sure you will all be very impressed too watching us perform!
I would also like to thank all of our parents who have helped in different ways, from attending meetings, to sharing knowledge of where to buy costumes, to coming in to help with making props – we really appreciate your support and hard work.
As November draws to a close I’d like to send a heartfelt thank you out to those parents who offered to assist our class with International Day. We are SO excited to perform for all of you and it means so much to us that you are willing to put time aside for our class. Thank you!
Beautiful Muna turned 4 this month and we had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday on Monday the tenth. Happy Birthday Muna – thank you for sharing your day with us!
We are working very hard in our Jolly Phonics books. Our class is so proud of their work and have learnt to treat their books so well. Jolly Phonics helps us learn letter sounds and formations and is a great way to help us prepare for reading CVC words!
We spent a lot of time making the beautiful butterflies that are currently up outside the classroom. I hope that you have all noticed vast improvements in the artistic abilities of your children. At the beginning of the year most of our painting projects ended up as a mix of colours, resulting in pictures that were mostly brown. Now our students are cleaning their brushes thoroughly and working carefully to ensure their pictures remain colourful and beautiful. I’m so incredibly proud of them all.
We have spent a lot of time working on the ‘Pockets’ series. Over the past two weeks we have learnt the names of 8 different people who work at school – cashier, janitor, gym teacher, music teacher, principal, secretary, gatekeeper and bus driver. As your children if they can name any of these people for you – they have done very well memorising them!
To end off the week we started getting some decorations ready for International Day – another example of how much better our concentration spans are getting, well done KG 2B.
And finally, some photos of us having some fun at school.
We do lots of arts and crafts projects in nursery to help them stimulate their creativity and imagination and to help them develop physically and mentally as well. We display them in front of our class for children to feel proud of what they can do.
KG1B have had a very exciting week. We practiced using our senses, and talked about how we use them in our daily lives.
This week teacher Jamie introduced motor skill activities to our timetable. Every morning after circle time we now practice using our motor skills through a new kind of center activity. This skills will can be used in our every day life and help us become more independent students. This week we practiced spooning different textured materials, threading beads, and clipping pegs. We had a great time doing these new centers!
This week in phonics we discovered the letter G. What sound it makes and some vocabulary beginning with the letter G. We made and pasted G’s to look like Giraffes. We finger painted the spots on using brown paint.
KG1B were very excited to display their art work.
We decided to see and experience life without having all 5 senses. The students were blind folded and had to use their hands to feel and touch the fruit and try to guess what it was. The students were really excited to play this game.
Outdoor Play has been more creative this week! Joining with KG1A we have been jumping for joy!
We finally got our school pictures back! And what a beautiful bunch we look!

This week KG1B have been busy learning about our senses. How we see, hear, touch, smell and taste. We’ve been working very hard to understand that we need our eyes to see and our ears to hear. We need our hands to touch and our tongue to taste! Well done KG1B for understanding this new concept! Especially because some of us have been independently discussing our senses during circle time and free play! 🙂
This week our moral story has been “the ugly duckling” we loved watching him turn in to a beautiful swan! We were so Impressed by the story we made our own ducklings! We finger painted them and decorated the lolly pop sticks using sequins and glitter. We even sent them swimming! Who’s duck was the fastest? Of course it was our little athlete Nandini. 🙂 congratulations! Nandi! We look forward to sports day with this little champion on our team.
KG1B had two birthdays to celebrate this week! Our beautiful Liza turned 4! And our handsome baby boy Danish turned 3! Wow! We ate lots of pizza and crisps and had two birthday cakes! KG1A joined us for our birthday celebrations. And teacher Jamie even attempted face paint! The results were spectacular! Everyone had such a great time and left full and content. Take a look…. 🙂
We love sharing our learning experiences with you! And all the fun and games we encounter during our week. Thank you for taking the time to read our blog! See you next week!
Take care
